Sawborg's Gambit

Description

The story starts off with the Turtles standing on a rooftop in Beach City, while the Crystal Gems are across from them on a different rooftop. On the street, Sawborg Destructo spots both groups. Under his breath, the robot vows to get even with both groups. GWAR and the Gems both receive their cues and attack eachother. Beefcake is so pleased to be fighting against the Gems that he says he must be dreaming. After the battle, both groups exit the scene.

Later that night, Sawborg lures GWAR and the gems to a warehouse on the other side of Beach City. The groups prepare to fight, but a red circle then forms around all of them and their surroundings turn into nothing but a bunch of red and brown stripes. Jizmak confirms that this may very well be a trap. Sawborg then shouts out over an intercom, stating that they are in his "Maze Of Death" and that, if they manage to get through it, they could walk away with the grand prize - their very lives. He then shoots projectile misslies at all of them. The Gems berate him for being a dirty trickster, but Stockman shouts that he has had enough of their abuse on him, supporting this response with the fact that he doesn't make threats of his own. He also hints at the presence of a "Monster of Death" at the end of his maze. He then presses a button that triggers the ground beneath GWAR and the Gems to disappear, causing the group of aliens to fall down.

They fall into a round, checkered tunnel and begin to fight with eachother yet again, but Blothar then sees circular saw axes starting to appear. They stop fighting, as they all begin to realize what's happening. One circular saw axe nearly hits Amethyst, but Beefcake pushes her out of the way, though he doesn't really know why he should have done this. Steven suggests that they stop fighting and work together to escape. Blothar refuses and is almost struck by an axe as well, but Amethyst whips it away. Pearl doesn't think that they should trust the barbaric aliens, but Garnet doesn't see any other choice and is confident that they'll be able to see a betrayal coming their way.

The team makes their way to the next room, where Jizmak claims that he smells fresh air toward their right. Then, metal balls with circular saws appear out of a ventilation hole and attack every one, which results in them making a dash for the exit. Jizmak soon sniffs the air and realizes that they have been where they are before. A few seconds later, they are split into two groups by a metal wall, with Blothar and Amethyst being separated from the others. In order to make Sawborg distracted, Pustulus loudly asks Sawborg what made him interested in the pursuit of destroying GWAR, other than being a Destructo, so Sawborg tells him that, since the chances are that Pustulus won't live to read his Autobiography, he will simply tell him and, as soon as he starts, Pustulus loses interest.

On the other side, Blothar complains to Amethyst that they are walking through the world's longest tunnel "of death", when, all of the sudden, it comes to an end with a giant bladed fan. It then begins to turn and turn, sucking parts of the tunnel into it. Blothar takes advantage of his sword and axe and plants them into the floor, but Amethyst loses her balance and heads straight toward the fan. However, before she can get shredded, Blothar catches her by the leg at the last second, and then kicks open the floor so that they can escape into a brown room. Amethyst says that this makes them even, but Blothar confesses that the pleasure of killing Amethyst has been reserved for GWAR, not Sawborg.

Back with the other group, Sawborg continues his story. A thoroughly bored Pustulus replies that Sawborg is a poor, poor scumdog. Suddenly, the tunnel starts to bristle with rotating laser turrets. GWAR and the Gems both become shocked when they see this, though they fight their way through.

After a long moment of silence, Amethyst asks what Blothar is doing with people like GWAR. He says that, in many ways, it's all he's ever known. He had been watching from Scumdoggia as GWAR got all these chicks and smoked all this crack, and he wanted a piece of the action. When Oderus urungus suddenly went missing, Blothar went to Earth and took the place of lead singer. After killing his way through the show, he became the new leader of GWAR, getting a share of the killing and the drugs. Amethyst realizes that he does all of this because he owes a debt of gratitude to GWAR, but Blothar states that the real reason he does it is for his love to "crack skulls".

On the other side, Pearl, after the last laser turret is destroyed, yells that she will find Sawborg, and Blothar and Amethyst manage to hear this from behind the wall. Blothar obliterates the whole wall with a single kick, and the two groups are reunited successfully. Steven teases Amethyst for their playdate, much to Amethyst's embarassment.

Balsac finally thinks that he's got a lock on Sawborg, and he orders Beefcake to rip a floor tile open, but, once again, the floor collapses underneath them. They then find Sawborg, who is standing upon a floating craft, depressed that the teams didn't destroy each other. However, he then brings out his monster "of death", which bears a striking resemblance to the Jagermonsta, and the group is forced to fight it.

The barbarians begin to fight, but Sawborg gets the best of them. Blothar tells Pustulus and Garnet to lure the Robot Monster under Sawborg, but he is way too fast. He then tells Balsac and Pearl to take the shot. Balsac slides on his back, and Pearl jumps on to his horse feet, only to get launched at Sawborg, destroying his control saucer and causing it to plummet on to the robot. Sawborg manages to escape the scene with a metal helicopter saw, and flies off into the night.

GWAR and the Gems finally find a way out, and decide to engage in a continuation of their perpetual war, as they weren't able to finish it earlier. Jizmak swings his hammer all around, but is way too tired to do anything with them. He yawns, falling to his knees. They are all too exhausted to battle so they just decide to forget about it, and leave. Pustulus declares that Blothar and Amethyst made a pretty good team, but Blothar says that Amethyst will still take them down whenever she gets the chance. Pearl seizes that chance and throws one of Sawborg's balls with circular saws at Beefcake, but, before it can hit him, Blothar is able to sense it and stabs his sword into the center of it. He tells his scumdog brothers to trust their senses and that they'll see the Gems coming. Pearl smiles at Blothar and walks away, impressed. GWAR watches the Gems leave.
